IT & Manufacturing - A Necessary Evil?

By Jennifer Hauge

IT resources are taking up more of a company’s budget year after year. Some may even call IT a necessary evil.   Shops can’t run without software in today’s world, so who is going to manage it?

Since manufacturing businesses vary like snowflakes, having boxed software packages only fit a minute portion of this industry. Besides a box system, there are traditionally only two options: Reconfigure your business model to fit the software package, or have a custom built system. These options result in either headaches or empty pockets, and that doesn’t include having to hire more developers and programmers for this difficult project either.  Decision makers are starting to look to the cloud for effective and valuable solutions.

Software as a service offerings allow for more flexibility for companies to choose which applications are best for them. Configuration or enhancements to these modules are also easier to manage. Another plus is whenever it is time to upgrade, these configurations are supported by us, compared to on premise system that requires even more customization as the system is upgraded.

Whether it’s ERP or overall supply chain connectivity you are looking for, there are proven benefits to using software thru cloud computing.
